kid11.jpgA healthy ADHD diet is very important factor in treating your ADHD child and control it’s symptoms. Try to observe and link your ADHD child’s behaviors with their diet. You can keep a small diary about the food that they are taking and the type of behavior the exhibits. Figure out which food contributes to the best and worse behavior and eventually you can see a common trend in your ADHD child.

However, many parents whose children are suffering from ADHD did not know that diet plays a very significant part in their ADHD child’s behaviors and symptoms. Below is a list of diet do’s and don’ts of ADHD that parents must be aware of.

ADHD DIET - DO’S LISTS:

Feed your child with organic foods as often as possible so that they are free from chemicals because a high concentration of chemical is definitely not good for the body.

Serve your child with high protein and low carbohydrates breakfast daily. No more cereals and milk type of breakfast.

Use a good quality milk powder with high concentration of protein in it.

Remind your child to drink lots of plain water.

Eat lots of fruits and vegetables daily.

Feed your child with primrose oils like Omega, Borage and fish oils. Try mixing a spoonful everyday into their food.

Encourage your child to give up junk and oily food, even if they love them to the death.

ADHD DIET - DON’TS LISTS:

Try your best to avoid foods that are processed and contain a lot of preservatives and additives.

Daily products like cheese, yoghurt and milk must be cut down in your child’s daily diet.

Try to avoid carbonated drinks because they are very high in sugar concentration.

Eat only fresh meat and not processed meat.

Avoid chocolates at all means, or limit to 1 piece a week.

Avoid food with colorings.

Avoid potatoes, especially potato chips.

Avoid your child from taking snacks, especially in between his main meals.
