As mentioned, children with ADHD usually have a hard time coping with things, both at home or in the school. However, in the recent years there is a change in the society where they start to understand and be aware of what ADHD is all about. Because of this, ADHD children are starting to be accepted by the general society compared to last time where they were completed ignored and isolated.

Cause 1: Diet
This is one of the popular ADHD cause assumption. This assumption started during the 1970’s where ADHD was thought to be caused by the person is sensitive or have allergy to certain types of food, usually for toddlers and young children. There was never a concrete proof of this assumption and it was ignored later on.

However, research and surveys showed that too much intake of foods such as sugar will cause your children to be hyperactive and impulsive.

Cause 2: Hormone Imbalance (Biological Cause)
The misconception on biological cause of ADHD has becoming popular. We all know hormones have direct influence on our behaviors and moods but it doesn’t mean that those hormones also cause ADHD in their child. There is not yet a solid proof that hormones have any connection with ADHD.

Cause 3: Type of Family and Parenting
Is this the one of the ADHD causes? Many people blamed poor parenting methods and problems in the family as the cause of ADHD since it involves behavioral problems. ADHD in children is not caused by bad parenting nor does it involve the situation at home.

Cause 4: Too Much TV Viewing
This is one of the popular misconceptions about ADHD causes. The general society has an impression that TV can increase aggression in young children. This can be comparable to impulsiveness and hyperactivity in ADHD children, but they are definitely not the same.

Recent surveys have shown that spending a lot of time watching the TV does not contribute to ADHD in children.

Once you have known all the misconception about ADHD causes, you can filter them out from your mind and focus solely on the actual ADHD causes. Research conducted by a selected group of scientists and doctors showed that ADHD is caused by genetic and neurological factors.
